Tennis at Lowlands is vibrant, busy and enjoyable.
We have four tennis sections to cover juniors and adults of varying abilities. Each section has its own individual social sessions where players can mix in and play doubles with different players. There is also ample opportunity for players to arrange their own matches during free court time. American tournaments are arranged during the year for all members. Balls and floodlighting are included in our annual membership fees. Membership fees are reduced for young adults as well as for juniors to encourage younger members to play at Lowlands.
We have six floodlit courts, three Claytex carpet and three artificial clay courts, all of which are regularly maintained. We also have a small junior court.
We now have a court booking system which has improved court access.
We have teams regularly competing in external competitions during both the summer and winter seasons. In the summer we have 5 men’s and 4 women’s teams in the Middlesex summer league and teams competing in the Middlesex Cup, AEGON team tennis and senior leagues (Age 40+ for Women and 45+ for Men.) In the winter teams include Men’s, Women’s, Mixed, Seniors, Middlesex Cup and Junior teams.
There is an annual summer tournament for single, doubles and mixed tennis including competitions for vets. We have a well-supported Finals Day each September. We also run winter completions for people of all abilities such as the Currie Cup for Men and Ladies and Shapla Cup for Men. We also have box leagues for players who enjoy competitive singles.
Lowlands has a strong coaching team providing individual lessons and group sessions for members and non-members. They actively support the junior members.
As a club we are developing links with local schools to encourage tennis within the community and to increase the numbers of juniors joining Lowlands as tennis members.
Members can enter a national ballot for Wimbledon tickets each Spring. Members are encouraged to register with the LTA and opt in to the ballot as our registered numbers determine our Wimbledon ticket allocation.
There is an active Tennis Committee drawn from members, which works to improve and develop the playing experience for members.
The quality of the club has been recognised by the LTA in awarding the club TennisMark status, which was awarded as we have safe systems in place for our staff, venue and competitive programmes.
Tennis players whether experienced or inexperienced are encouraged to apply for membership by contacting our tennis captains Janice & Sue at [email protected] who will arrange a play-in to the most suitable club section for your abilities. For players looking for individual or group lessons either for adults or children please contact our Head Coach Simon Gibaut ([email protected] or 07764501117) or by clicking the coaching link in the tennis section of the website to access the dedicated coaching website.
